Project Need

To support innovation in the field of building inspections by providing requirements to help standardize the method by which remote virtual inspections are conducted in the Canadian context. This proposed  New Standard is being developed at the request of Provincial building officials. It will provide inspectors with the tools to ensure compliance with the building code through remote virtual inspections, saving time and maximizing resources.

This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interests:

  1. ensuring that the latest innovative/technology features are available for users;
  2. addressing the anticipated labour shortage facing many municipalities; and
  3. addressing need of regulators by providing suitable requirements
