This standard will serve as a risk assessment standard which will focus on underground geologic formations, compression facilities, and all equipment between the compression facilities and underground geologic formations to support the safe underground storage of hydrogen.  The standard will include assessment of the risk management framework for both safety and financial risk.

Project Need
To provide guidance on risk assessment and risk management for underground storage of hydrogen in geologic formations.This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of industry stakeholders. It will provide the industry with the necessary guidance on risk assessment and risk management for underground storage of hydrogen in geologic formations. This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interest’s groups by addressing the needs of industry stakeholders through the provision of suitable requirements and guidance. - Regulatory authorities - Project owners and operators - Public interest
