Scope:

The following attributes, criteria and metrics will be used to assess the sustainability of activated carbon throughout its entire life cycle, including:  feedstock, activated carbon production, distribution, and end-of-life management. No impact  is associated with its use.


 

The scope of the standard is limited to activated carbon used in the filtration of potable / drinking water within the following applications:

  • Point of Use (POU) systems / products
  • Point of Entry (POE) systems
  • Municipal supply

Activated carbon used in water remediation is excluded from the scope.
