Scope

This standard specifies requirements for the classification, rating, and supervision for boiler, refrigeration, and compressor technologies for installed and operational equipment. The standard will support consistent regulation for plant ratings, scopes of practice for power engineers, refrigeration plant and compressor operators, and certification processes in Canadian jurisdictions.

Project need:

Project Need
This standard will support public safety, consistent registration and supervision of boiler, steam, refrigeration and compressor plants used in power generation, industrial processes and environmental systems. It will provide consistent national requirements to support the operation and management of equipment producing energy for use in domestic, commercial and industrial processes and facilities. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of industry and government. It will provide the industry with comprehensive requirements for the classification, rating, and supervision for boiler, refrigeration, and compressor technologies for installed and operational equipment. This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interests: a) ensuring that consistent requirements for power plant classification, rating, and supervision are available for industry; b) supporting public safety by providing suitable requirements; and c) enhancing labour mobility for power engineers in the industry.
