Scope

1.1

This Standard applies to unvented portable type gas camp heaters of the catalytic and infrared type only up to and including a maximum input of 12,000 Btu/hr (3 517 w) using propane, butane, and liquefied petroleum gas mixtures thereof, and intended for outdoor use.

1.2

This Standard applies to portable type gas camp heaters having a:

a) regulated pressure; or

b) non-regulated pressure.

1.3

Heaters and components employing materials or having forms of construction differing from those detailed in these provisions may be examined and tested according to the intent of the provisions, and if found to be satisfactorily equivalent, may be given recognition.

1.4

This Standard applies to heaters constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials.

1.5

All references to psi throughout this Standard are to be considered gauge pressures unless otherwise specified.

1.6

All accessories recommended by the manufacturer for use with appliances tested to this Standard are to be supplied with the appliance.

1.7

If a value for measurement as given in this Standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as the specification, except as noted in Clause A.2.

This Standard contains SI (Metric) equivalents to the yard/pound quantities, the purpose being to allow the standard to be used in SI (Metric) units. (IEEE/ASTM SI 10 is used as a guide in making metric conversion from yard/pound quantities.) If a value for a measurement and an equivalent value in other units are given, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. The given equivalent value may be approximate. If a value for a measurement and an equivalent value in other units are both specified as a quoted marking requirement, the first stated unit, or both are to be provided.
