Scope

1. Scope

1.1 This Standard applies to portable industrial oil-fired heaters irrespective of the heating capacity, the type of burner or the motive power.

1.2 The requirements given herein apply to units which may be indirect-fired or direct-fired, vented or unvented, and which may be used with or without duct work.

1.3 The requirements given herein apply to direct-fired or indirect-fired heaters intended for space-heating of buildings under construction and for spot heating; to flue connected indirect-fired heaters intended for temporary space heating of complet ed buildings, when the products of combustion are discharged outdoors.

1.4 The requirements given herein may also be applied to such equipment as crop dryers.

1.5 A heater which differs from that contemplated by this Standard may be examined and tested according to the intent of the Standard.

1.6 A heater which meets each separate requirement of the Standard, will not comply with the Standard as a whole if it has other features which, when examined and tested, are found to impair the intent of the Standard.
