1.1 General

This Standard covers polyethylene (PE) pipe and tubing, and fittings for use in transporting potable or non-potable water in applications such as water mains, water service lines, building supply lines, wastewater forcemains, reclaimed water, irrigation, district energy, or water-based ground source geothermal systems, in either buried, submerged, or above-ground installations.

1.2 Requirements

This Standard specifies requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions, sustained pressure, environmental stress cracking, and markings.

Project need:

Project Need

To update the current standard due to user experience/feedback/new technology (new edition). This proposed New Edition is being developed at the request of the B137 Technical Committee. It will provide the industry with up to date performance specifications for thermoplastic pressure piping. This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interests: a) ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users, b) addressing needs of regulators by providing suitable requirements; and c) supporting certification bodies.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.
