Oil/gas-fired commercial/industrial pressure washers and steam cleaners
Scope:
This Standard covers the performance, construc-
tion, testing, marking, installation, operation, and
servicing of complete commerciaVindustria1 pres-
sure washers and steam cleaners that are either gas-
fired or oil-fired.
1.2
The Standard applies to
(a) complete machines comprising a continuous
coil-type heating system, with no space for steam
accumulation, in which the solution is heated to a
temperature below the saturation temperature for
the pressure in the coil and intended to discharge
droplets of hot solution 100°C (212OF) or lower from
each cleaning nozzle at high velocity;
(b) machines intended to discharge only the
cleaning solution and machines intended to dis-
charge cleaning solution or rinse water as required
by the operator;
(c) machines that may be portable or installed as
stationary equipment;
(d) machines that are manually controlled from
the machine to supply the demand at the cleaning
nozzle(s) and machines that are automatically con-
trolled in accordance with thedemand at the cleaning
nozz I e(s);
(e) machines that supply one or more cleaning
nozzles and are primarily intended for cleaning or
su rface-treati
ng purposes;
(f) machines driven by electric motors, internal
combustion engines, or other prime movers.
1.3
Clauses 1 to 8 apply to both oil- and gas-fired
machines. Clause 9coversadditional requirements
for gas-fired machines and Clause 10 covers addi-
tional requirements for oil-fired machines.
1.4
Devices or products that comply with these require-
mentsshall not be acceptable if, when examined and
tested, they are found to have additional features
that impair the results contemplated by the require-
ments.
