Scope

This Code applies to the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of the fuel storage and delivery system installed in on-road vehicles for use with compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). This includes fuel systems on self-propelled vehicles for the provision of motive power.

 

Regulatory requirements might supersede the requirements of this Code.

 

This Code does not apply to

  1. stationary engines
  2. mobile equipment using natural gas as a fuel for other than propulsion;
  3. electronic components of a fuel management system;
  4. storage or utilization of natural gas on marine vessels or rail vehicles or CNG transportation by tanker truck;
  5. recreational all terrain vehicles;
  6. motorcycles; and

CNG vehicles (including their containers) qualified under the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations.

To support innovation and harmonization of North American requirements, in the field of natural gas vehicle fuel systems by providing requirements for the construction/installation/use of natural gas vehicle fuel systems in the Canadian context.
