Scope

This standard includes planning for the supply of medical grade PPE (e.g., masks, respirators, gloves, gowns) and specifying Canadian requirements including considerations with respect to materials science.

This includes determining needs and sufficient supply or stock of PPE; compliance with applicable design and performance requirements; development of specific Canadian PPE requirements; fit-testing and training of new users of PPE; and considerations for cleaning, disinfection, and re-use of disposable or reusable PPE.

Project need:

Project Need
The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to help protect workers (e.g. health care professionals, first responders) and the public against transmission of bio-aerosols and infectious substances. The development of new and updated Canadian requirements is intended to help support the supply and safety of medical grade PPE in Canada
