This amendment has been prepared by a joint working group of IEC subcommittee 62D: Electromedical equipment of IEC technical committee 62: Electrical equipment in medical practice and ISO subcommittee TC121/SC1: Breathing attachments and anaesthetic machines, of ISO technical committee 121: Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment.

 

This International Standard applies to the basic safety and essential performance of heating devices using blankets, pads or mattresses in medical use, also referred to as me equipment. Heating devices intended to pre-warm a bed are included in the scope of this international standard.

To maintain alignment of Canadian requirements with those of international standards in the medical electrical equipment subject area, and update the current standard due to user experience/feedback/new technology.
