This Standard specifies minimum requirements for a Wastewater Management System established by an Operating Authority Municipal Wastewater System:

  1. to facilitate the Operating Authority’s ability to consistently collect, treat and dispose sewage and associated environmental discharges in a way that meets applicable legislative, regulatory and Owner requirements, and,
  2. to enhance environmental protection through the effective application and continual improvement of the municipal Wastewater Management System.

This standard is intended to apply to the operation of a Municipal Wastewater System, from initial commissioning until operation ceases.  It is not intended to apply to initial planning, development / construction or site closure / remediation and is not intended to apply to Stormwater only systems.

Project Need
To provide decision-makers of wastewater systems with a consistent framework to help them proactively manage their system. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of wastewater system operators and related associations. It will provide the industry with requirements and recommendations that will help wastewater system operators manage their systems
