This Standard addresses an organization’s need to be able to select and provide appropriate training to safely work at heights.

The goal of fall protection training is to assist workers and other parties to develop and gain the knowledge and skills to perform their work in a manner that reduces risk of harm relating to working at heights

Project need:

Project Need
In Canada, there are no consistent fall protection training programs available. In the absence of any consistent training programs, some provinces have developed their own training programs and requirements. They include the minimum requirements and do not include details on how to develop and implement a program. This often leaves employers (particularly small and medium employers) unsure of how to best support their workforce, expending unnecessary resources on recreating information, choosing a training provider, and often implementing ineffective and costly initiatives. The standard will cover all the elements needed for a fall protection training program. This standard differs significantly from the more common equipment compliance standard, Z259.17 focuses on the procedural use of fall protection equipment.
