Scope

1.1 This Part is intended to be read together with the Standard for Low-Voltage Fuses – Part 1: General Requirements, hereafter referred to as Part 1. The titles of the Clauses in this Part correspond to the similarly titled Clauses in Part 1. The requirements of Part 1 apply unless modified by this Part. For the Part 1 requirements, refer to the Standard for Low-Voltage Fuses – Part 1: General Requirements, NMX-J-009-248/1-ANCE / CSA C22.2 No. 248.1 / UL 248-1.

 

1.2 This Part applies to supplemental fuses rated 60 A or less intended only for supplementary overcurrent protection where branch circuit or equivalent applications are not involved. DC ratings are optional.

ULSE proposes a New Edition of UL 248-14 / C22.2 No. 248.9. This new edition incorporates several editorial changes including renumbering and reformatting to align with current style. The previous edition was published in 2000. This proposed  New Edition is being developed at the request of UL. It will provide the industry with updated edition to align with current style and formats. This will meet the strategic needs for key interests area for the fuse industry, regulators, consumers, government by:

  1. ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users,
  2. addressing needs of regulators by providing suitable requirements; and   
  3. supporting certification bodies
