Scope

1.1 General This Standard applies to electromagnetic noise originating from alternating current, overhead electric power lines, and associated generating and distributing stations.

1.2 Equipment Covered This Standard applies to lines and stations the construction of which was commenced after the date of publication of this Standard.

1.3 Voltage This Standard applies to power lines and stations operating at voltages up to 800 kV phase to phase.

1.4 Frequency The limits apply from 0.15 to 30 MHz.

1.5 Weather The Standard applies during fair weather conditions, as defined in Clause 2. During periods of rain, snow, or fog, noise in excess of the limits stated in Clause 5 may occur.

1.6 Operating Conditions The Standard applies during normal operating conditions of the power system. During infrequent, abnormal operating conditions outside of the control of the power utility, such as operation at unusually high voltages or use of temporary structures following damage to power line towers, noise in excess of the limits may occur.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.

Individual SDOs are responsible for the content and accuracy of the information presented here. The text is presented in the language in which it was provided to SCC.
