1.2 Scope

This standard describes the procedures to be followed and the precautions to be taken in measuring performance of LED drivers commonly used in general lighting, exterior lighting, and roadway lighting, and similar applications. The scope includes LED drivers that may have these characteristics:

  1. Input supply voltage up to 600 VDC or 600 VAC (60 or 50/60 Hz)
  2. Output open-circuit voltage of 600 V or less
  3. Constant-current or constant-voltage direct current (DC) output
  4. Fixed, pulse-width modulation, or programmable (tunable or dimmable) output power
  5. External (standalone) or internal (enclosed in luminaire)

Project need:

Project Need
To align Canadian requirements with those of ANSI and NEMA standards on Electronic Drivers for LED Drivers. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of BC Hydro. It will provide the industry with in measuring performance of LED drivers.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.

Individual SDOs are responsible for the content and accuracy of the information presented here. The text is presented in the language in which it was provided to SCC.
