This document provides high-level security and privacy requirements and recommendations for 
authentication using biometrics on mobile devices, including security and privacy requirements and 
recommendations for functional components and for communication.

This document is applicable to the cases that the biometric data and derived biometric data do not leave 
the device, i.e. local modes.

Project need:

Project Need
To align Canadian requirements with those of international standards in the Information Technology subject area and to maintain alignment with international requirements. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of P123 Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT). It will provide the industry with the latest requirements in the field of ICT, including AI and smart cities.
