This Standard applies to commercial, industrial, and institutional electric clothes-drying equipment intended to be used by trained or supervised personnel only, in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CEC) on circuits having a nominal voltage not exceeding 600 V.

Note: Wherever practical, for convenience, the term ″appliance″ has been used in lieu of ″clothes dryer″ or ″ machine″.

Additional requirements, as applicable, apply to appliances that utilize an external source of energy, such as gas or steam in addition to electrical energy.

This Standard does not apply to electric clothes dryers intended for use by the general public such as residential use or coin-operated clothes-drying equipment.

In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard.
