Hydrogen fuel storage containers for aviation applications
Scope:
Note: This NOI (originally published on August 30, 2022) was reissued by the responsible SDO on September 10, 2024.
Note: As requested by the responsible SDO, this NOI being reissued as the standard was in the initial stages of development for more than 12 months. An additional comment period of November 28 to December 19, 2023 (originally published on August 30, 2022).
This Standard contains requirements and recommendations for the material, design, manufacture, marking, and testing of serially produced, refillable hydrogen fuel storage containers intended only for the storage of compressed hydrogen gas or liquid hydrogen fuel for aviation applications. Excludes containers covered by CSA HGV 2 Compressed Hydrogen Gas Vehicle Fuel Containers.
Project need:
The development of this standard will support the safe deployment and the use of hydrogen fuel in aviation applications as a conformity assessment standard does not exist for this application. Industry stakeholders had confirmed that development of a National Standard of Canada for the hydrogen fuel storage container in aviation applications would aid the industry.
Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.
