Note: As requested by the responsible SDO, this NOI being reissued as the standard was in the initial stages of development for more than 12 months. An additional comment period of February 13 to March 5, 2024 (originally published on June 7, 2022).

The document will primarily address the safety aspects of powering a locomotive with hydrogen fuel cells.  The technical aspects to be covered include suitability of the fuel cell for the application and environment, on-board storage and piping, the fueling interface, fire protection, and inspection and maintenance.
