This Standard outlines requirements for personal hearing protection devices (HPDs), specifically:

a) performance; 

b) acoustical testing; and 

c) selection, care, and use of HPDs.

 

The following types of HPDs are covered in this Standard:

a) earplugs (including semi-inserts);

b) earmuffs; and

c) helmets, with or without electronic communication capabilities.

Project need:

Project Need

To update the current standard to ensure alignment with the new CSA Z1007:22 Hearing loss prevention program (HLPP) management. This proposed  New Edition is being developed at the request of S304 Technical Committee Members. It will provide the industry with clarified guidance on the test methods for impulse noise and level-dependent hearing protectors.
