This Standard will provide a framework for the planning, adoption, implementation, and management of digital health technologies and infrastructure used in health care facilities. It will address life-cycle management and intersystem communication within the health care facility and across the continuum of care. It is intended to assist in adapting health care provision to technological changes, and in making investments that will improve efficacy while prioritizing the safety, security and privacy of both patients and staff.

Project Need
The adoption and implementation of Digital Technology is crucial to ensure sustainability and quality improvement for Canada’s health care system. However, knowledge about the right implementation strategies to pursue and how to implement these strategies into the existing technological infrastructure is not always clear nor easy to find. The purpose of this standard is to provide a guideline to facilitate the adoption and implementation of Digital Technology to Canada’s healthcare infrastructure.
