Scope

1.1.1 This standard applies to newly produced illuminating appliances constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials,

(a) for use with natural gas; (b) for use with propane; (c) for use with butane.

1.1.2 These requirements cover gas-fired lighting appliances intended for either outdoor or indoor installation for attachment to fixed gas piping systems. Appliances approved for indoor use under this standard are also suitable for use in mobi le homes and recreational vehicles when properly installed.

1.1.3 This standard is not intended to cover open-flame illuminating appliances having an input rating in excess of 5,000 Btu per hour (1465 W) per burner.
