Scope

Scope: This Standard applies to eye and face protectors used in general occupational, educational, and healthcare facilities, operations and/or processes involving hazards or contaminants to the eyes or face.

The standard includes guidance on the selection, care and fit of protective face masks and shields

A new edition of Z94.3; the anticipated impact of this Standard is to leverage lessons learned during the global pandemic to update eye and face protectors across Canada to help protect workers in various workplace settings including healthcare facilities.   As well, to address diversity and inclusion within occupational health and safety by updating the Standard to include the classification of the various head forms and various sizes (small, medium, large, long/narrow and short/wide) for eye and face protectors. Z94.3 currently only specifies one head form which does not address other anthropometric considerations.

Project need:

Project Need
The development of a new edition arose during the global pandemic, COVID 19, to have an inclusion of Class E face shields for use in healthcare facilities and to outline the minimum performance requirements and test methods for ClassE as the current edition, CSA Z94.3:20, does not address this type of face protectors.
