W202 Project Need Statement: Erosion and sediment control is critical to mitigating the impacts of development, where construction has an impact on watercourses and surrounding environments. Erosion and sediment control, however, is only as good as the inspection and effectiveness monitoring that accompanies it. This standard outlines requirements and recommendations that ensure, from all angles, a high level of inspection and monitoring. The standard is also intended to bring erosion and sediment control operators, across Canada, together and utilizing a common approach to inspection and monitoring procedures as a means to raising the project quality bar throughout the industry.
