Scope

1.            Develop a new standard for WICF components (panels, doors and refrigeration systems) and include MEPS to align with DOE procedures and levels.

2.            This new Standard would not apply to components of WICF designed and marketed exclusively for medical, scientific, or research purposes

3.            Fully harmonized with DOE, including final rule provisions that will come up from the July 29, 2016 pre-publication;

4.            Follow the accelerated  “Path 1”

There is no CSA Test Standard for Walk-in Coolers and Freezers (WICF). A Walk-in Coolers and Freezer test Standard is needed in order to have a common test procedure with which all manufacturers can rate their products and to support the Regulator Co-operative Council (RCC) initiative.

Standards Council of Canada is allowing the development and publication of CSA C296 following SCC review through the Duplication Resolution Mechanism.
