Scope:

This standard covers construction, marking, and testing requirements for oil buffers and elastomeric buffers intended to be installed in passenger and freight elevators in accordance with ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators

Project need:

To provide a standard to which specific components can be certified, thereby replacing existing TILs and LTRs that are required to be closed. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of the CSA B44 Technical Committee. It will provide the industry with a standard for oil and elastomeric buffers for use in passenger and freight elevators.
