Electrical Energy Regulating Equipment (EERE)
Scope:
This standard applies to Electrical Energy Regulating Equipment (EERE) designed to monitor the consumer’s service, feeders, and branch circuits and control the connected loads so that connected loads do not exceed the rating of the existing consumer service, feeders and branch circuits. Equipment covered by this is intended for use in non-hazardous locations with a voltage rating of 1000V or less, in compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CE Code, Part I).
Project need:
To support innovation in the field of energy management by providing requirements for the construction/installation/use of energy regulating equipment in the Canadian context. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of industry. It will provide the industry with the use of energy regulating equipment for the addition of new electric loads without a need to upgrade the existing service.
This will meet the strategic needs of the following key interests:
- ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users,
- addressing needs of regulators by providing suitable requirements; and
- supporting certification bodies.]
