1 Scope
1.1 These requirements apply to electric motors for installation and use in hazardous (Classified) locations immersed in flammable fluids that are maintained above the upper flammable limit (UFL).
1.2 This standard is applicable for use only in industrial establishments with restricted public access, where the conditions of maintenance and supervision ensure that only qualified persons service the installation.
1.3 These requirements anticipate common flammable gases, gas mixtures or flammable liquids.
1.4 These requirements apply to motors of a type designed to operate continuously submerged in a liquid that is flammable only when vaporized and mixed with air or oxygen.
1.5 These requirements apply to motors of a type designed to operate continuously within a gas or vapor that is flammable only when mixed with air or oxygen.
