Electric Duct Heaters
Scope:
1.1 This Standard applies to stationary electric duct heaters for comfort heating rated at 600 V or less and 1000 kW and less, designed to be installed and used in nonhazardous locations in residential, commercial, and industrial applications, in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. Note: The Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, provides a limitation of 150 V to ground for space-heating equipment, with certain exceptions given to equipment for installation in apartments and similar multi-family dwellings.
1.2 This Standard does not apply to the ducts of a heating system in which duct heaters are employed.
1.3 This Standard does not apply to duct heaters when combined with other comfort-conditioning equipment.
1.4 This Standard does not apply to fan-coil units, radiant heating equipment, electric boilers, furnace plenum add-on heaters, or duct heaters for other than comfort use. Note: For convenience, except where distinction is necessary, duct heaters are referred to throughout this Standard as "heaters"
