Note: As requested by the responsible SDO, this NOI being reissued as the standard was in the initial stages of development for more than 12 months. An additional comment period of August 15 to September 6, 2023 (originally published on September 27, 2022).

This document defines key terminology, establishes circular economy principles, and provides guidance for its implementation by using a framework and areas of action. It is intended to be used by organizations seeking to understand and commit to a circular economy while contributing to sustainable development. These organizations can be either private or public, acting individually or collectively, regardless of type or size, and located in any jurisdiction, or position within a specific value chain or value network.

Project need:

Project Need
To support organizations ability to communicate consistently and accurately related to circular economy. This standard intends to align global terminology, principals and guidance for circular economy for all to follow. This standard will also support informed consumers by ensuring that a consistent terminology and principals are used when showcasing environmentally preferred products and organizations who have implemented circular practices.
