Scope:

Scope

Create a new standard to supersede the C500 standard with the following scope:

Refrigeration systems with the following characteristics:

i. Serving refrigerated storage in a distribution warehouse and refrigerated processes, for food and beverage products.
ii. Refrigeration systems using a vapour-compression cycle and providing cooling by convection.
iii. Refrigerated zone volume equal to or greater than 283 m3 (10,000 ft3).
iv. Process cooling capacity equal to and greater than 70 kWR  (20 TR).

Project need:

Project Need
Project need is to update the standard to reflect improvements to the methodology identified during the validation work for the development of the spreadsheet that supports the standard. This proposed New Standard is being developed at the request of the C402 committee on industrial energy efficiency. It will provide the industry with an improved benchmarking process for determining the energy performance for industrial refrigeration systems

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.

Individual SDOs are responsible for the content and accuracy of the information presented here. The text is presented in the language in which it was provided to SCC.
