Benchmark Energy Factor (BEF) Assessment of Refrigerated Facilities
Scope:
Create a new standard to supersede the C500 standard with the following scope:
Inclusions
This Standard is intended for refrigerated facilities with the following characteristics:
i. Refrigerated distribution centres for food and beverage products.
ii. Refrigeration systems using a vapour-compression cycle and providing cooling by convection.
iii. Refrigerated zone volume equal to or greater than 283 m3 (10,000 ft3).
iv. Non-refrigeration systems’ energy use is less than or equal to 20% of total facility energy use.
Exclusions
This Standard is not intended for use for the following systems:
i. Stand-alone packaged walk-in cooler and freezer units.
ii. Mobile refrigeration units.
iii. Climate-controlled warehouses (temperature and humidity control).
