Note: The standard designation number for this NOI (originally published on October 17, 2023) was updated by the responsible SDO on October 24, 2023.

This Standard specifies minimum accessibility requirements for self-service interactive devices (such as, but not limited to, automated banking machines (ABMs), retail self-checkout, self check-in devices, ticket vending kiosks, smart card sales, query and reload devices). The 2nd Ed of B651.2 will focus on the development of requirements to address and incorporate new technologies to enhance accessibility, while assessing their use for equity and inclusion of all users

Project Need
The primary objective of this project is to update the current standard to address the evolving landscape around self-service interactive devices and AMBs regarding the use of new technologies to enhance accessibility. This proposed New Edition is being developed at the request of the S701 Accessibility Technical Committee members, the S701.2 Accessible ABM and Self-Service Device Technical Subcommittee members, and other stakeholders.
