Scope

This National Standard of Canada sets out the requirements for training, assessment and competency of persons who handle, offer for transport or transport dangerous goods by road, rail, marine and air in Canada. Competency to perform tasks pertaining to the TDG is developed through the acquisition of knowledge, skill, and ability. This standard recognizes that operations vary from organization to organization within and across industries based on tasks and modes of transport, but is widely applicable as it: • identifies and describes function-specific tasks across all modes of transport; and • provides a benchmark to employers for training and the determination of competence that suits their operations and workforce requirements. Units of measure – Quantities and dimensions in this standard are given in SI units.
