Scope

This method determines the net mass of retail packages of yarns.

The method applies to all types of yarns, cords and threads of all fibres including blends of known fibre content.

This method is used when sample retail packages of yarn are sent to the laboratory and are used as the test specimens.  The results are considered to be applicable to the samples only and not necessarily to the rest of the lot from which the samples were taken, unless the number of samples and method of sampling are specified and agreed upon by all parties concerned.
