Scope

1.1 This standard describes a physical method of quantitative analysis. The method may be used to analyze mixtures of fibers that differ in density by at least 0.15 g/ml. The method may also be used when chemical methods of analysis are not suitable. The solvents used must not change the density of fibers. 1.2 The accuracy of the method depends upon sufficient difference in density of the two types of fibers and on the length of the fibers in the specimen being short enough to prevent tangling in the flotation solvent. Careful technique is also necessary if reliable results are to be obtained. 1.3 This standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.

Note: The information provided above was obtained by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and is provided as part of a centralized, transparent notification system for new standards development. The system allows SCC-accredited Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and members of the public, to be informed of new work in Canadian standards development, and allows SCC-accredited SDOs to identify and resolve potential duplication of standards and effort.
