Scope

This method describes a procedure for subjecting textile materials to the action of solvents for the ultimate determination, by the appropriate test method, of the effect of such a treatment on the permanence of finishes added to improve such functional properties as resistance to water, flame, insect attack, etc.

The procedure assesses the solubility of the finish in the solvent.  It is not intended to simulate the overall effect of a full-scale commercial dry cleaning operation.
