Scope

1.1This method evaluates the smoothness appearance of fabrics after repeated domestic-type launderings involving machine washing and drying.

 

1.2 The method is primarily applicable to fabrics described as "durable press" or

"permanent press" but may also be used with other types of fabrics.

 

1.3 The test procedure is designed to reflect the minimum capabilitiesof home laundry equipment currently used by consumers The specified machine settings for washing and drying in CAN/CGSB-4.2 No 58-M are not designed to reflect advances in cycle design or specral features of washers and dryers that enhance the performance of durable press fabrics.
