Performance Packagings for Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Scope:
1.1 This standard contains design, manufacturing and use requirements for non-bulk UN specification packagings of no more than 400 kg or 450 L for the transportation of dangerous goods (other than those classed as gases, infectious or radioactive).
1.2 Part I of this standard applies to classes 1 to 9 excluding classes 2, 6.2 and 7. It specifies design and manufacturing requirements for non-bulk UN specification packagings that are based on the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods.
1.3 Part II of this standard applies to classes 3 to 9 excluding 6.2 and 7. It sets out requirements for the selection and use of non-bulk UN specification packagings for shipment by road, rail and by ship on a domestic voyage. The provisions of Part II apply to both new and reconditioned or remanufactured packagings. 1.4 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
