This National Standard of Canada describes a product specification in compliance to ISO19131:2007 – Geographic information – Data Product Specification for the provision of elevation data and associated metadata to the public through the GeoBase initiative of the CCOG. This product specification describes the Canadian Digital Elevation Data which consists of an ordered array of ground and reflective surface elevations recorded in meters, at regularly spaced intervals.

Note: The Canadian Digital Elevation Data aligns with the USGS DEM product (USGS 1997) and is different from the Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) product produced by the Department of National Defence of Canada.
