Soil Amendments - Alkaline or Dried Municipal Biosolids
Scope:
This standard specifies the characteristics of alkaline or dried municipal biosolids as well as the criteria and methods used to verify these characteristics.
This standard applies to municipal biosolids resulting from a thermal or an alkaline treatment and used as soil amendments. These treatments are recognized for destroying pathogens such as salmonella, enteric viruses and viable Ascaris eggs.
This document was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity evaluation activities of specific products.
NOTES —
- Conformity evaluation is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a product fulfils specified requirements.
- Other treatments can be used to treat municipal biosolids, however, they are not specified in this standard. For information purposes, Annex E provides information related to the recognition of such processes.
