Scope

This standard specifies the physical, durability, mechanical and hydraulic characteristics as well as test methods of geotextiles used for reinforcement, separation, protection or filtration purposes in road construction.

This standard targets the quality and performance of geotextiles.

Geotextiles used mainly for drainage or soil massive reinforcement are not covered by this standard. They shall therefore be subject to specific technical clauses.

This standard does not apply to geotextiles used as a drainage envelope around perforated drainage pipes in drainage systems.

NOTE — Knitted geotextiles are sometimes used as drainage envelopes around drainage pipes to prevent the infiltration of foreign particles into the drain. The requirements for this type of product are covered in the document BNQ 3624-115.
