The purpose of this part is to define terms related to aggregates used in civil engineering, to define the concept of granular class and to classify aggregates according to their intrinsic and manufacturing characteristics.

Part II Purpose and Scope
This part establishes the requirements that apply before the transport and placement of aggregates used in the field of pavements for sub-base, granular wearing course and shoulder.

Part III Purpose and Scope
This part sets out the requirements that apply prior to the transportation and placement of aggregates used as cushion, overlay, anti-contaminant layer and filter layer.

Part IV Purpose and Scope
This part sets out the requirements for aggregates used in the preparation of ready-mixed concrete.

Part V Purpose and Scope
This part sets out the requirements for aggregates used in the preparation of bitumen-based products such as hot mix asphalt and warm mix asphalt.

Part VI Purpose and Scope
This part sets out the requirements for aggregates used as road abrasives.
