At the start of our Innovation Initiative, SCC supported the development of an international standard to support the marine environment and level the playing field for marine sensor suppliers and manufacturers by setting parameters for instrument performance. Using ISO 22013 Marine environment sensor performance — Specifications, testing and reporting — General requirements for procurement of these measuring instruments helps ensure reliability and accuracy of marine environment sensor data, which is critical to the health and function of our oceans and inland waters. Canada led the development of this important standard and it’s now available to those who need it such as manufacturers, consumers, governments and scientists.
