SCC renews partnership with Peru’s National Standards Body INACAL

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the Instituto Nacional de Calidad de Peru (INACAL), the national standards body of Peru, have renewed their cooperation arrangement to advance international standards work between Canada and Peru.

SCC and INACAL first entered into a cooperation arrangement in 2017, at the 81st General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission in Vladivostok, Russia.

This renewal strengthens Canada and Peru’s capacity to respond to ever-evolving needs of the standards development world. It aims to facilitate the exchange of information and best practices and advance projects in key areas. This includes raising awareness of the link between standards and economic prosperity, supporting initiatives focused on promoting gender and inclusion in standardization, and expanding the regional influence of the Pan American Standards Commission, COPANT, and its members.

“SCC looks forward to building on our relationship with INACAL to heighten the impact of standards on the prosperity of our countries,” says Chantal Guay, SCC CEO.

This collaboration provides the means to deliver SCC’s capacity development work through the assessment of INACAL’s standards development processes, and attestation of compliance with the best practices for standards development from the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement (WTO TBT).

“Our collaboration contributes to improving the competitiveness of companies and expanding their access to new markets,” says Clara Galvez Castillo, INACAL Executive President.
