SCC is the first Canadian accreditation body offering the Aerospace Quality Management Systems Accreditation Program

The Standards Council of Canada has expanded its roster of services with an Aerospace Quality Management Systems Accreditation Program (AQMS) recognized by the International Aerospace Quality Group. We are now the first and only Canadian accreditation body that accredits certification bodies for AS9100, AS9110, and AS9120 AQMS certification, and the only North American body offering this service in both French and English.

We are overjoyed to continue growing our service offering to better serve our customers and provide more accreditation options for certification bodies in the aerospace sector. We look forward to leveraging the AS9100 series and our own accreditation methods to help the aerospace sector meet the evolving demands of today’s global market.”

                                                                                                                                                            – Elias Rafoul, Vice-President of Accreditation Services

The AS9100 series is the industry-recognized set of standards for quality assurance and risk management in the aerospace sector. These standards apply to aviation, space & defense organizations, aviation maintenance organizations, and aviation, space & defense distributors. Many major aviation, space, and defense manufacturers require that their entire supply chain be Aerospace Quality Management Systems certified.

Now that SCC offers this accreditation program, aerospace management system certification bodies will have more options for their accreditation needs. The decision to add this scheme to our Management Systems Accreditation Program was informed by customer demand and aligns with our goal to offer our customers a “one-stop-shop” accreditation experience.

According to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), Canadian aerospace companies are recognized worldwide for delivering leading-edge and advanced technology solutions on time and at a competitive cost. Canada is home to many aerospace companies, employing over 89,000 skilled professionals. In 2018, the aerospace industry contributed $13.1 billion to Canadian Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
