SCC and BDC pair up to bolster Canadian business

Canada’s growing list of innovative businesses will have a powerful new partnership to support them. SCC and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) have joined forces to broaden awareness of standardization and intellectual property (IP) opportunities. The partnership between the two was made official with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. 

The two organizations will engage with SMEs and innovators through joint activities to increase awareness, knowledge and use of IP and standardization.

 “We are pleased to work with BDC to help Canadian innovators better understand how standardization can help leverage their IP and strengthen their businesses,” says Chantal Guay, SCC CEO. 

“Partnerships like these allow Canadian businesses to make the most of the federal services available to help them grow, and we are excited to get started,” said Lally Rementilla, BDC’s Managing Partner of Intellectual Property-Backed Financing. 

Work is underway to align resources and training materials, with an expected webinar in the future. This new partnership supports the Government of Canada’s Intellectual Property Strategy, which was launched in 2018 to help Canadian innovators compete on the global stage.
