Celebrating World Standards Day

On October 14, 2021, the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) joins the global community in celebrating World Standards Day. Each year, SCC highlights the importance of standards-related activities and pays tribute to the collaborative efforts of thousands of individuals that give their time and expertise to this vital work.

WSD PosterThe year’s theme is our shared vision for a better world. This focus is part of a multi-year campaign to showcase the importance of international standards to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs present a blueprint to ending poverty and tackling climate change to create a more inclusive and sustainable world by 2030.

As the invisible infrastructure that safeguards the products, processes and services we rely on, standards offer solutions to today’s most pressing environmental, societal and economic issues. Thousands of ISO and IEC standards make a direct contribution to each of the 17 SDGs.

With our world’s climate changing dramatically, taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (SDG 13) is vital to securing our future. SCC is proud of its technical experts and partners who develop standards that preserve the integrity and diversity of our planet’s ecosystems.
