In today’s world, clean technologies, products, and services are key to sustainable development. They eliminate or reduce pollution and waste, while improving productivity and efficiency. But to encourage the uptake of clean technology solutions, there needs to be clear testing and performance requirements in place that meet global best practices and technology verification standards.
The Clean Technology Innovation Initiative (CTII) Market Acceleration Plan aims to improve awareness and understanding of the beneficial role standardization plays in promoting clean tech solutions. This national community-sourced program enables and encourages the application of existing and proposed environmental standards—including the ISO TC 207 family of standards—in support of technology innovation and global sustainability objectives.
Launched through the VerifiGlobal Forum, with SCC’s support, CTII is advancing global sustainability by promoting the adoption of ISO TC 207 standards in federal, provincial and territorial policies and regulations. The CTII also provides entrepreneurs who have developed innovative clean technologies that lack well-established, relevant standards to verify the performance claims around their technologies.
By spearheading the CTII, VerifiGlobal and SCC hope to create synergies with other initiatives in order to strengthen our collective capacity to address the sustainability challenges facing the world today.
